As of June 2000,

North Dakota
has been struck with
NINE
Presidential Declared Disasters in the last EIGHT years!

In June 2000, devastation again hit North Dakota with upwards of 17 inches of rain hitting Grand Forks County and the following week, torrential rain flooded the Fargo-Moorhead  and surrounding areas.

Then in the early hours of August 12, 2000, winds of 111 mph rake roofs off homes and businesses, causing more damage and heartache.  Meanwhile, the western half of North Dakota continues in drought conditions.

In Devils Lake, one especially hard hit area was the mobile home park.  Roofs were torn off and some homes were rolled over and destroyed.

All of this damage is on top of the continuing problems of the extremely high water table in the area over the last few years.  The waters of Devils Lake has consumed farmland around it with the lake level rising to 25 feet above normal.
