Edgeley North Dakota and Surrounding Areas

Hit by Flash Flooding During the Night

In June 2006, flash flooding occurred in various parts of North Dakota while wind storms hit other parts of the state.  Edgeley was especially affected.  Just two days earlier, after days of saturating rain, as the residents of this small rural community slept, a rainstorm struck in the middle of the night.  This community of 640 residents was both surprised and devastated by the storm as cornstalks gathered from surrounding fields forming a dam along fence lines.  As the pressure burst this temporary dam, the rain waters swept through their homes in town as well as surrounding farms.
